The 6-week art course, in partnership with Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness, provided a transformative experience for participants. During this program, individuals experiencing homelessness explored various art techniques, empowering themselves through creative expression amidst the challenges of COVID-19. The course fostered community connections and resilience, demonstrating the profound impact of art in difficult times.

Over the six weeks, we collaborated with KCAH and the participants to deliver a series of engaging art workshops that aligned with their interests and KCAH vision. In the first week, we focused on self-portraits and collage, using these creations to explore our identities. The second week introduced abstract art, where we delved into how color and texture can convey emotions. In the third week, we experimented with pottery, learning various techniques for working with clay. The fourth week was dedicated to poetry, discovering how words can create vivid imagery. Finally, in the fifth and sixth weeks, we planned and crafted a mural to warmly welcome visitors to KCAH.

In conclusion, the art course provided participants with valuable skills and a sense of community. By exploring different art forms, individuals expressed themselves and connected with others, showcasing the healing power of creativity. This initiative highlighted that even in tough times, art can inspire hope and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on both participants and the community. We look forward to continuing this journey through transformative power of art.
